newtype is the community I created, and more than 2,000 people have already paid to join. But I still haven’t fully explained what newtype is.
First, let me answer the first question: where does the name “newtype” come from?
If you watch anime, you definitely know: newtype comes from Gundam.
In the world of Gundam, humanity is divided into two types: oldtype and newtype.
Oldtype are people bound by Earth’s gravity. They are trapped in the old system, think in old ways, and live by old rules.
Newtype, on the other hand, are evolved people. They adapt to the space environment and have stronger perception and intuition. In Gundam, only a newtype can truly pilot the strongest machines.
This metaphor is especially accurate when applied to today.
AI is this era’s “space.” It is a completely new environment with completely new rules.
Most people are still living in “Earth” mode: clocking in, working fixed hours, trading time for money, waiting for others to give them answers.
They fear AI, or they only use AI to do more work inside the old system — in essence, they are still bound by gravity.
Newtype are the people who realize the rules of the game have changed.
Not only do they realize it, they also begin to adapt to the new rules and use the new rules.
AI is the Gundam, and we are the pilots. But not everyone can pilot a Gundam.
Only newtype can.
Now, let me give newtype a clear definition, in just ten words:
Think it through, build it, and live for yourself.
These three layers are all indispensable.
The first layer: think it through.
Newtype don’t just think about how to use AI. They think about deeper questions, such as:
How should people live in the AI era?
Where are people heading?
What is truly irreplaceable?
Where is the boundary between humans and machines?
There are no standard answers to these questions. But newtype will think about them instead of avoiding them.
Many people learn AI just to ease their anxiety. After learning it, they are still anxious, because they never figured out what they actually want.
Newtype first think through the direction, and then choose the tools.
Because tools serve the direction, not the other way around.
The second layer: build it.
Newtype use AI as leverage to clear the path.
What they build might be a product, a content system, or a business — but it must be something of their own.
They are not working for someone else, not helping someone else realize their dream, but building their own work and their own assets.
AI makes it possible for “one person to live like a whole team.” But possibility does not equal reality.
You still have to actually build it.
The third layer: live for yourself.
Newtype have a strong sense of individual sovereignty.
They do not want to be defined by a company, defined by a platform, or defined by any system.
They want to define their own lives.
This is not selfishness. This is clarity.
Because in this era, if you do not define yourself, you will be defined by algorithms, by your boss, and by social expectations.
You will end up living as the person others think you should be, instead of the person you want to be yourself — wouldn’t that be the same as wasting your life?
Newtype reject that fate.
If you still don’t quite understand what newtype is, then let me explain another question:
What is newtype not?
First, newtype are not people driven by fear.
A lot of people are thinking: AI is going to replace me, what should I do?
People who come with this mindset, no matter how many tools they learn, are only trying to run for their lives.
Newtype are not running away from something; they are moving toward something.
Fear makes people passive, makes people follow the crowd, and makes people lose judgment.
Fear is not the driving force of newtype.
Second, newtype are not people driven by greed.
“How can I use AI to make money fastest?”
If all you want is to get rich overnight, there are wilder paths. You don’t need to come here.
Of course, newtype also want to make money. But money is the result, not the goal.
The goal is to live clearly, to build a system for your own life, and to gain real freedom.
First the system, then the money. The order must never be reversed.
Third, newtype are not people looking for ready-made answers.
“Just tell me directly what I should do!”
People like this are, in essence, still hoping to be fed by the system — only before they were fed by companies, and now they want to be fed by communities.
Newtype think for themselves, do it themselves, and take responsibility themselves.
I can share my roadmap, methodology, and even specific tools, but you are the one who walks the path.
I can tell you where the pitfalls are, but whether you jump is your choice.
People who just reach out to grab things won’t survive here.
Fourth, newtype are not people who chase trends.
One model today, another application tomorrow, and then a new framework the day after — people who chase trends are, at their core, anxiety patients.
Newtype have their own rhythm.
They know what is relevant to them and what is noise.
They won’t feel like they must understand something just because everyone else is talking about it.
Focus is a scarce ability. Newtype protect their attention.
To sum it up in one sentence: the core driving force of newtype is not fear, not greed, but a genuine desire to live clearly.
So, where are newtype going?
Not toward a specific endpoint, but toward a direction:
individual sovereignty in the digital age.
What does individual sovereignty mean?
It means your survival does not depend on any single system. For example:
not depending on a single employer, not depending on a single platform, not depending on a single region.
Specifically, it means:
You can survive without clocking in. Your income is not tied to any particular desk.
You can still have income without relying on a single employer. You have multiple income sources, or you have your own product.
You can create value without selling your time. You build systems, and the systems work for you, rather than you working for the systems.
AI is your leverage, not your threat. You use it to amplify yourself, not to be replaced by it.
Put simply, it means using AI to live like a company.
You are the CEO, and AI is your team.
You make the decisions, and AI does the execution.
You have strategy, and AI has tactics.
This is not fantasy. This is what is happening right now.
This is how I live myself. And more and more people in the community are moving in this direction too.
Finally, what is this community?
The newtype community is not a training class.
It’s not me teaching you a few tools and a few tricks, and then you “graduate,” take a certificate, and go find a job.
This is a group of people who are all moving in the same direction.
I’m just a little further ahead. I record the scenery I’ve seen along the way and the pitfalls I’ve stepped into, and share them with the people behind me.
You don’t have to follow my path exactly. Because everyone’s path is different.
But the general direction is the same: think it through, build it, and live for yourself.
