The Division of Labor Logic of Sora, Veo, and Seedance

Use Veo to shoot a single shot, and also use Veo to tell a complete story (if you need 4K and long duration). Use Sora when you want realistic physical motion or character insertion. Use Seedance for batch-producing Chinese content, low cost, and integrating multiple assets.

The boundaries among the three are becoming blurred, but this is roughly the division of labor right now.

Here are my thoughts on these three models:

Sora: A tool for film directors

Camera movement is Sora’s strongest area. Its understanding of cinematic language is currently the closest to professional standards. For example, changes in depth of field, focus pulling, handheld feel, lens distortion—It understands all these details. More importantly, there is physical realism: liquid flow, light refraction, fabric physics—these world-model-level things are handled very solidly by Sora.

Of course, the tradeoff is that it’s expensive, slow, and less controllable, and it also has two shortcomings: length and 1080P. So it’s suitable for concept development and for creations that pursue a cinematic feel.

Veo: A realism and detail obsessives’ model

Veo’s strengths are hyper-realistic people and scene details. Skin texture, eye expressions, and micro-expressions are all currently regarded as the most realistic. In addition, Veo also has a very good understanding of cinematography style. If you give it a reference image, it can reproduce the lighting and visual style quite accurately.

Through chained expansion, Veo 3.1 can produce coherent videos with longer duration in a single project, while audio and character consistency are maintained throughout. This is the beginning of it becoming a real storytelling tool. In addition, it is still the only 4K AI video that has truly been deployed in the mainstream market.

Seedance: A workflow integrator

Seedance does not have any technical dimension where it is absolutely number one, but its specialty is Chinese-context storytelling + multi-asset integration. Give it a pile of reference files, and it can turn them into a coherent video while maintaining character consistency.

This is extremely valuable in e-commerce and short drama scenarios. So it is very suitable for Chinese content, e-commerce short videos, AI short drama serials, and workflows that need multi-asset integration.
