Key Takeaway
- Built a personal base, newtype.pro: I used Codex to fully build my personal website, migrated 309 articles, 485 posts, 2 courses, and the AI industry chain investment index over here, and made it the core system for long-term operation, with other platforms serving only as distribution channels.
- Why self-building is necessary: Existing platforms, such as Knowledge Planet, are not suitable for systematic content presentation and accumulation, and they carry uncontrollable risks like traffic suppression and account bans. A self-built website can organize content according to my needs, and open the knowledge base through MCP so that both people and AI can call it directly.
- Platforms are docks, not bases: Content, relationships, and understanding should not be locked inside someone else’s system. People who truly do things for the long term must deposit their core assets in a system they can fully control and continuously expand, in order to achieve true individual sovereignty.
Over the past three days, I burned through my Codex quota and finally finished building my personal website.
Now, if you type the domain newtype.pro into your browser, you can open the website and learn about my philosophy and view all my content.
From now on, this website is my base, and I will keep operating it continuously. Any other platform is just a distribution channel.
So why not use an existing platform?
Over the past three years, I have published content on various platforms, including videos and articles. And the public content, as well as the member-only content, I also centralized and published in Knowledge Planet newtype.
Although that is convenient, it has two very fatal problems:
First, the content cannot be presented as a system.
For example, with Knowledge Planet, although I put all the content there, it is naturally a community for communication, not suitable for content presentation and accumulation. Before, quite a few friends had already told me they couldn’t find content.
Second, when it’s someone else’s turf, you can be manipulated at will.
For example, some platforms passed, but certain platforms didn’t; some platforms were fine, but certain platforms throttled traffic. And I didn’t even livestream at all, yet I was still judged to have violated livestream content rules and got banned for 30 days.
Honestly, this is no longer just annoying—it is a very serious hidden risk.
So, in order to organize and present all my content according to my own needs, and in order not to be at the mercy of platforms anymore, I had to build my own base.
As of now, 309 articles, 485 posts, and 2 courses have already been published on the website, including both public content and member-only content. The AI industry chain investment index I recently created is also displayed on the website. The system automatically updates the index and constituent stocks according to the results of the previous trading day.
If you have already joined Knowledge Planet newtype, then you can log in through the top-right corner, and the system will verify your identity through the planet’s API. Then you can view all the content without having to search around in the planet for ages.
Moving all the content to the website for people to see is only the first step. In order to let members’ AI also call it freely, I specifically built a knowledge base and exposed it through MCP. In this way, both people and AI can connect to my content.
At this point, this website is no longer just a display page. It has started to become a system of my own.
A lot of people creating content are actually constantly working for platforms. The articles you write, the videos you post, the relationships you build up, and the understanding you accumulate in the end are all locked inside someone else’s system and rules.
Of course platforms have value. They can help you distribute your content and help more people see you. But a platform can only be a dock; it cannot be a base.
I built this website not because I want to escape all platforms. Quite the opposite—I will still continue to use platforms. I just don’t want to put the most important things in a place where I don’t have the final say.
newtype’s articles, posts, courses, member relationships, and knowledge base should be accumulated in a system that I can maintain for the long term and continuously expand.
No matter how platforms change in the future, how algorithms change, or how rules change, this place will still be here. This is my base.
If you are also seriously doing something long-term, I suggest you think about this too: everything you are accumulating right now—is it in your own system, or in someone else’s system?
OK, that’s all for this episode. If you want to understand AI, want to reclaim individual sovereignty, and want to find like-minded people, come join our newtype community. See you next time!
