Codex is definitely one of OpenAI’s biggest recent highlights. Use the CLI for development and the app for everyday tasks. With high limits and not being too obnoxious, it’s a very cost-effective choice right now.
I’m gradually moving development work from OpenCode + OMO to Codex CLI. The GitHub Copilot quota I save gets used in newtype OS (content creation). For scattered tasks like SEO and GEO, I just throw them into the Codex App to get them done.
Under real-world constraints, AI models and tools are all temporary and require continuous adjustment. What matters most behind all this is my own data (accumulation and cleanup), as well as my understanding of my own needs and the optimization of my workflow. Only then can I make the application layer work with whoever is available.
