Perplexity Computer is suitable for large-scale, multi-step, cross-source research tasks.
Regular Perplexity is suitable for quick search, Q&A, and getting instant information with citations.
If your task is “finding the answer to a question,” regular Perplexity can search the web in real time and provide verifiable citations. If you turn on Deep Research, Perplexity will also perform dozens of searches, read hundreds of sources, and organize them through reasoning into a more complete report.
Computer’s advantage is that it can turn search into a complete workflow: breaking down tasks, searching in parallel, letting sub-agents handle materials separately, generating documents or spreadsheets, and even continuing follow-up actions through connected tools. So in terms of “breadth + execution + deliverables,” it is usually stronger than regular Perplexity.
